Reliable

We name all of our cars. Steve,  Barney, Goldberg... Laycee dubbed our newest (used) minivan, "Old Richard Silver". Despite Barry's protests,  the name has stuck. It has turned out to be a very fitting name; Old Richard Silver is not reliable. We've suspected from the get-go that maybe this deal was a little shady. Right after purchasing, we found out the window buttons weren't even attached. We had to roll down the window with a pocket knife, like MacGyver.

The engine kind of stutters whenever we turn on the car. We've taken it to the shop a handful of times because of the issue. Each time, they claim to have found the problem but give it a few days... it will start stuttering again.

The automatic side door on the baby's side is broken and pops back open every time it's on the cusp of closing. We have to tediously wait for the door to slowly move into the right position then force it closed; It takes perfect timing and skill. When it gets cold, neither automatic door will work. Sometimes the kids have to climb over the seats to exit the trunk.

Last year, the hydraulics in the trunk broke. I never realized how heavy that door was until we had to manually lift it. And just this week,  Barry tried to exit the driver's side and the handle randomly broke. Now we have to unroll the window and open the door from the outside to get out!

We've had some pretty good laughs over our money pit vehicle. It's better to laugh than cry! The constant discussion is, "how many inconveniences does it take before considering a new car?"

It will have to take a whole lot more, I suppose. We're stuck with Old Richard; The geriatric car who doesn't want to kick the bucket.

We like to say he just has character.
