Don't Judge a Book By It's Cover

 WRITING PROMPT #1- Delight

Yesterday, I walked out of the gas station with my daily Diet Dr. Pepper fix (don't judge me) and was blocked from getting into my van. The car next to me had their passenger-side door open so I couldn't quite get through and the passenger was leaning into the car talking to the driver. The guy blocking me was obviously getting dropped off for his work shift. He was wearing all black, was big and burly, and looked kind of tough and serious. Based on appearance alone, he didn't seem like the kind of guy you'd want to upset so I waited patiently. But then he leaned back into the car one more time before leaving and said, "bye, Mom, I love you."

It caught me off guard. I got in my car and giggled at the sweetness I secretly witnessed. I love it when people surprise me.
